AquaTru – Countertop Water Filtration Purification System
best countertop reverse osmosis system

We’ve chosen the AquaTru countertop water purification system as the best countertop reverse osmosis system because it’s a very easy to use system that doesn’t require any plumbing or installation. You just plug it in and start using!

This is a great reverse osmosis system if you’re a renter or someone who moves a lot and cannot use a system that requires plumbing or drilling. It’s also great for someone who doesn’t like the added cost of hiring a plumber, or someone who is not a handyman or handywoman.

You’re buying a reverse osmosis system because you want pure, clean and healthy water. The AquaTru has been independently tested and certified by IAPMO and according to NSF/ANSI standards it removes 83 different contaminants from water including sediment, rust, chlorine, THMs, odors, heavy metals such as lead and chromium-6, fluoride, nitrate, radium and more.

The filters last around 600-1200 gallons which means you only have to change the filters every 6 months to 2 years. The first two filters need to be changed every 6 months, the final filter every 12 months while the reverse osmosis membrane lasts 2 years.

The best part is, you don’t need to guess when to change the filter because there’s a filter change alert that lets you know on the digital display.

The filters are very easy to remove and replace- no special tools required! After you’ve changed a filter, press the filter reset button.

The AquaTru reverse osmosis system has 4 filtration stages. Each filter plays a different role in the removal process.

The first two filters are the pre-filter which traps larger particles, sediments and rust while the activated carbon filter removes chlorine.

The next filter is the reverse osmosis membrane. The water passes through this membrane, which removes heavy metals, fluoride, BPA and other contaminants.

The final filter is the activated coconut block carbon filter that removes organic compounds and residues. You’re now left with pure, clean water!

The water is ready to dispense from the dispensing tank. Just hold your glass under the dispensing tank and press the blue button for the water to pour out of the tank and into your glass, ready to drink.

How the unit works is that it has two tanks- one tank holds the tap water while the other tank holds the filtered water that’s ready to drink. The tap water tank holds about a gallon of water while the filtered water tank holds about 3 quarts of purified water.

This is important to know because reverse osmosis water filtration takes a lot longer than regular water filtration. The larger the tanks, the quicker the process takes because more water is available to filter. It takes about 12 minutes to get a full tank of filtered water.

The tank which dispenses the purified water can be removed from the unit and put in the fridge. This is great when you want to drink cold water especially in summer.

AquaTru is made of BPA-free and BPS-free Tritan plastic and is covered by a 1-year warranty.

What’s included in the package:

AquaTru system incl. tap water tank + filtered water tank
Sediment/carbon pre-filter cartridge
RO membrane

Here are the approximate costs for replacing each of the filters:

VOC stage 4 filter is $29.95

Features and benefits:

KFLOW Countertop Reverse Osmosis System

best countertop reverse osmosis system

The KFlow countertop reverse osmosis system is an excellent brand that we highly recommend.

It has a 4-stage filtration process and is very easy to use. Just simply plug the system into the wall and you can start using it right away as it comes with the filters already pre-installed.

One of the things we love about the KFlow is that it has a double reverse osmosis filter whereas most other reverse osmosis filters use a single membrane filter. This gives you better filtration and nicer tasting and healthier water. The KFlow removes over 1000 contaminants including fluoride, chlorine and chloride.

The KFlow is sleek and takes up less room than other countertop units. It has one tank which is where you pour your tap water into. The filtered water is dispensed out of the machine straight into the included pitcher, ready for you to pour.

The first two filters need to be changed every 6 months or so while the remaining filters can be changed once a year. This gives you an idea of the ongoing cost of maintaining the KFlow countertop reverse osmosis system. There is an indicator that tells you when a filter needs to be changed.

Another great feature of the KFlow is that unlike other reverse osmosis systems which require you to empty the waste water right away, the KFlow allows you to re-filter the waste water on the next use. This can be done up to 4 times before you need to empty the waste water. This reduces the amount of water that is wasted compared with other systems.

You can also select how much water you need filtered. This saves you waiting for the entire tank to filter if you only need half a liter. Just choose the amount you need!

SimPure Y6 Countertop UV Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration Purification System

best countertop reverse osmosis system

The SimPure Y6 countertop reverse osmosis system is another great model on the market for turning tap water into filtered water that’s fluoride-free and free of other contaminants.

It’s an easy-to-use plug in system that doesn’t need any plumbing or drilling because it’s a countertop system. It actually looks a lot like a coffee machine!

The SimPure has a 3-stage filtration system and also has a UV filtration built in.

The first filter cartridge is made up of 2 filters. The first removes sediment while the second is an activated carbon filter that removes chlorine and reduces chloramine.

Once the water has passed through these filters, it passes through the reverse osmosis membrane which removes fluoride, lead, dissolved solids, chemicals, heavy metals and other contaminants.

Now you are left with filtered water in the tank ready to be dispensed!

The waste water that remains after filtration needs to be emptied. There is an alarm that sounds so you know that you need to empty the tank. This is very normal for all reverse osmosis systems and you’ll be pleased to know that countertop systems such as the SimPure Y6 have much less waste water than other reverse osmosis systems.

The system has two water tanks. The tank that you add tap water to holds about 1.3 gallons while the tank which stores the filtered water holds 0.4 gallons.

If you’re wondering how often you need to replace the filters, the filters need to be replaced every 6 to 12 months depending on how often you use the system. It’s easy to remove and replace the filters as they just click into place.
