Best Cool Mist Humidifier For Baby Rooms
I’ve chosen the Crane drop ultrasonic cool mist humidifier as one of the best humidifiers for babies rooms and nurseries because it’s a popular choice and a reliable brand.
It has a 1-gallon tank capacity and the tank can easily be removed and fits under most bathroom sinks, making it easy for you to refill. The large capacity means that you can run the humidifier for up to 24 hours before it needs to be refilled.
You don’t need to stress about constantly monitoring water levels. When the water level drops low, there is an auto shut-off sensor that automatically shuts off the humidifier, so you know it’s time to refill it.
The humidifier is made of anti-microbial material, which reduces the likelihood of bacteria and mold growth. This is important as you want your baby’s room to be clean and comfortable, especially during winter when colds and illnesses are most common.
The Crane humidifier doesn’t use a filter, so you don’t need to worry about the extra costs of filter replacements. If your home uses hard water, then you can use a demineralization filter with this unit.
The Crane humidifier can humidify a space up to 500 square feet, so you could move the humidifier into your living areas when your baby is awake and playing.
When you’re using the humidifier in your baby’s nursery, you’ll be glad to know that it’s whisper quiet, so it won’t disturb your baby.

Best Humidifier For Baby Rooms
MistAire Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier – Premium Humidifying Unit with Whisper-Quiet Operation, Automatic Shut-Off, and Night Light Function
The MistAire ultrasonic cool mist humidifier is one of the best-selling humidifiers on the market that is great to use in a baby nursery.
The water tank capacity is smaller than the Crane, holding around 1.5 liters (approx. 0.4 gallons) which gives you up to 16 hours use before needing a refill.
The MistAire is suitable to use in a room or space up to 250 square feet, which is about half the area of the Crane. This makes the MistAire a great option for a small room or a baby nursery.
The humidifier is filter-free, so you don’t need to worry about replacing filters. You do need to regularly clean the unit, as you would with any other humidifier.
If you’re using it in your baby’s nursery at night, the unit will shut off automatically when it runs out of water. This is something you don’t need to worry about, because if you switch on the unit with a full tank at night time, it will work throughout the night without needing a refill.
There is a high and low mist speed option, which is great if you don’t want much mist to be dispersed. This means your unit will run for longer before needing to be refilled.
I also like that the unit has a 360 degree mist nozzle for even coverage, rather than have the mist spraying only in one direction.
Children love the soft night light, which calms them and makes them feel relaxed. This light can be switched off.

There’s an automatic shut off feature which shuts off the humidifier once the water level drops to a certain point. You can leave it running overnight in the baby nursery knowing that it won’t need to be refilled until the following morning.

Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier, Anypro 3.5L Air Humidifiers with Super Quiet Operation, Variable Night Lights and Automatic Shut-off
Easy To Clean Humidifier For Baby Rooms
Another popular humidifier for use in a baby nursery is the Anypro ultrasonic cool mist humidifier.
Its water tank holds 3.5 liters, which is just under 1 gallon, and on the low setting it can run up to 36 hours without needing to be refilled. It disperses mist at the rate of 250ml per hour.
Some people complain about humidifier leakages. I like that the Anypro has a deep groove design that reduces leakage and resists breakage. This makes the humidifier safer as there is a lower risk of it being broken or leaking water in your baby’s nursery.
The humidifier is suitable for a baby’s nursery, child’s bedroom, and medium-large sized living areas. The unit humidifies the air in rooms up to 538 square feet.
You can control the mist output to the level you want, using the dial knob control. The mist spray is adjustable and can disperse mist at 360 degrees.
I like that the humidifier was made using antibacterial material inside the water tank and the base to prevent mold growth. There aren’t any filters in the humidifier, and you can use regular tap water or distilled water.
There is a variable night light, which shines 6 different colors: red, pink, yellow, blue, green and purple.

If you’re looking for an extra-large humidifier with other special features, you might be interested in the TaoTronics cool mist humidifier.
I like that the TaoTronics has an LED display showing you the current humidity level, and you can set the humidity level ideal for the room. This is great when you’re using the humidifier in a baby nursery, so that you can choose the most comfortable humidity level for your baby. Once the set humidity level is reached, the humidifier switches off.
The water tank has an extra-large capacity of over 1 gallon and it can operate for up to 15 hours before needing to refill the water tank.
You can choose different mist modes, including sleep mode which turns off the LED night so it doesn’t disturb your baby.
The nozzle is 360 degrees and you can adjust the angle that you want the mist to disperse at.
It’s very easy to refill the water tank, simply by using the two handles on the top and bottom of the unit.
A microporous cartridge is used inside the humidifier, which filters the water and removes microorganisms from the water.

I couldn’t create a list of the best humidifier for baby nurseries without including a Vicks humidifier! Vicks is a well-known brand that’s been around for a very long time. I remember my mom using Vicks products on me when I was a toddler.
The Vicks warm mist humidifier is the first humidifier in my review guide that is warm mist, and not cool mist. Many parents prefer warm mist because it adds a little more warmth to your baby or toddler’s room. However, it’s not necessary if you are also using heating when the humidifier is being used.
I really like the Vicks warm mist humidifier because you can use Vicks Vaposteam in the humidifier to create the soothing scent in your baby’s nursery or toddler’s bedroom. This is great if they are suffering from a cold. A medicine cup is included with the humidifier.
The humidifier is suitable for medium-sized rooms, and it can run for up to 12 hours before needing to be refilled.
There are two mist settings available, and there’s a soothing night light which your child will love.
I’m also impressed with the extra-long warranty of 3 years- nearly all other humidifiers only have a 1-year warranty.

Best humidifier for toddlers rooms
You can use any humidifier for a toddler that you would use in a baby nursery, however some toddlers love anything that’s a novelty. I’ve researched and found a few cute and fun novelty humidifiers that would be perfect for a toddler’s bedroom.
I also prefer a cool mist humidifier in a toddlers room rather than a warm mist humidifier. This is in case your toddler decides to play with the humidifier! You don’t want them burning themselves from the heat of a warm mist humidifier.
The Vicks Starry Night cool moisture humidifier is very popular with toddlers and children, and would also make a great addition to your baby’s nursery. It’s very popular because of the starry night projector, that projects stars onto the ceiling. Kids find this a lot of fun, and very relaxing when trying to fall asleep.
Vicks Starry Night has a 1-gallon water tank capacity and can run between 18-24 hours before needing to be refilled. How long it operates before needing to be refilled depends on whether you run the humidifier on the low or high setting.
I like that the Vicks Starry Night has a VapoPad scented pad that you can put inside the humidifier so that it emits a lovely fresh smell, which is great for when your child has a cough or cold.
Unlike the other humidifiers I’ve reviewed in this post, the Vicks Starry Night uses a filter. It’s an anti-microbial treated filter that has to be changed regularly.
What’s also impressive is that Vicks offers a 3-year warranty on the Vicks Starry Night, which is a longer warranty period than most other humidifiers on the market.

It’s suitable for use in a medium-sized room, up to 500 square feet.
The humidifier has an auto shut off feature once the water level drops to a certain point. This is great because the humidifier won’t overheat and you don’t need to keep checking on it.
You don’t need to worry about replacement filters because the Crane humidifier doesn’t run using a filter.
The humidifier comes in different designs:

Frequently Asked Questions About Humidifiers In A Baby Nursery
How to choose the best humidifier for baby nurseries and toddler bedrooms
After reading through my best baby humidifier reviews, you might have chosen a few that you think are suitable, but still aren’t sure which is the best humidifier for baby nurseries to buy.
When shopping around for the best humidifier for baby nurseries, you need to consider the different types of humidifiers, what you prefer, your budget, and the design that best suits your home décor.
What is the best type of humidifier for baby nurseries?
You want your baby to feel safe and comfortable when sleeping, but how do you know whether a warm-mist or cool-mist humidifier is the best humidifier for babies?
Cool Mist Vs Warm Mist Humidifier For Babies
Warm Mist Humidifier
A warm-mist humidifier contains a heating element that heats up the water before the steam is dispersed.
You might think that a warm mist humidifier is the best humidifier for babies because they add warm air to a room, instead of cool air. One thing to remember is that warm mist humidifiers need to be cleaned more often than cool mist humidifiers because the heating element can lead to bacteria and mold growing in the humidifier. This is why warm mist humidifiers operate with a filter that needs to be regularly changed.
A warm mist humidifier costs more to operate. The heating element uses more power, and you need to regularly change the filter. The upfront cost of a warm mist humidifier is less than a cool mist humidifier.
A warm mist humidifier is not always the best humidifier for baby nurseries and toddler bedrooms because of the heating element and possible safety risks.
You can read more about warm mist humidifiers in my review post.
Cool Mist Humidifier
The most popular type of humidifier for a baby nursery is the cool-mist humidifier, which uses ultrasonic technology. I think it’s the best humidifier for baby nurseries because there isn’t a heating element.
Ultrasonic technology is when a high-frequency sound wave causes the water to vibrate and create a mist. The mist is gentler than the typical steam from a humidifier, and also means that the unit operates more quietly.
Cool mist humidifiers don’t need a filter to operate, so this is one less thing you need to worry about. It’s another reason why I love cool mist humidifiers and believe they are the best humidifier for babies.
You can read more about cool mist humidifiers in my review post.
Why Cool Mist Humidifiers Are The Best Humidifiers For Babies
Safer for babies: There is no risk of burns because there is no heating element.
Less expensive to run: Due to no heating element, it is cheaper to run a cool-mist humidifier.
Effective: A cool-mist humidifier is just as effective at adding moisture as a warm-mist humidifier.
Temperature: Cool-mist humidifiers do not create a cold room, they simply provide a mist that is not heated.
Quiet operation: Due to ultrasonic technology, a cool-mist humidifier has a quiet operation. Your baby will not be disturbed when the humidifier is on.
What To Look For When Choosing The Best Humidifier For Baby Nurseries?
Auto shut-off: This is an important safety feature found in nearly all humidifiers. Once the water level is low, the unit will shut off automatically. This is important as sometimes parents can forget that the humidifier is operating.
Quiet operation: A quiet operating humidifier will help your baby sleep better.
Adjustable control: Being able to adjust the speed of the mist means that you can control how much moisture is being dispersed and also how long the unit will operate for.
Easy to clean and refill: You will need to clean the humidifier a few times each week, so its best to find a humidifier that is easy to clean and refill.
Antibacterial features: This helps prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses. Look out for filters and UV technology that does this for you.
Why do humidifiers help with congestion in babies?
Sometimes, congestion and dry coughs occur because the air in the home is dry. Using the heater in the winter dries out the air, and you can be left with a very hot, stuffy and dry environment. Humidifiers add moisture to the room, so that the air isn’t as dry. This helps clear the airway and reduces the chances of getting a dry cough from lack of moisture in the room.
Do humidifiers clean the air?
No, humidifiers don’t clean the air. You would need an air purifier if you’re wanting to clean the air in your home. Humidifiers add moisture into the room, they don’t purify the air.
Do cool mist humidifiers make the room cold for your baby?
Some people think that cool mist humidifiers make the room cold. Although the mist isn’t warm, it doesn’t make a room cold. Since humidifiers are commonly used in the winter when the air inside your baby’s nursery is dry, you would usually use a heater in conjunction with a humidifier. The cool mist isn’t cool enough to cool down a room in the summer, if you’re using the humidifier in a hot and dry climate.
Can you use tap water with a humidifier?
Yes, you can use tap water with a humidifier however you might notice white dust around the humidifier and in your baby’s nursery. This white dust is from sediments in tap water. One way to overcome this is problem is by using a humidifier with a filter. The filter will remove sediments in tap water. If you’re using a humidifier without a filter, you could use filtered water instead of tap water.
Can you use a diffuser as a humidifier in your baby nursery?
Some people believe that a diffuser and a humidifier are the same. Most essential oil diffusers don’t emit as much vapor into the air as a humidifier does. An essential oil diffuser cannot add moisture to a room like a humidifier can. It’s recommended that you use a humidifier in a baby’s room if you want to add more moisture to the room. Some humidifiers allow you to add essential oils- please check your manufacturer’s instructions for more information.
What is the best humidity level for a baby’s room?
This is a difficult question to answer! It can vary, depending on many things, in particular your climate and also your baby’s personal needs. I would recommend measuring the current humidity level using a digital hygrometer and using this as a guide to whether you need to use a humidifier or not. Also pay attention to how your baby sleeps- do they sleep soundly or are they constantly waking up crying? Is your baby waking up in a sweat? Does your baby have a dry cough? These are some things to consider. Of course, please do not take this as medical advice, but something to monitor.
Common Complaints About Humidifiers In A Baby Nursery
As with any product you buy, there are some downsides to owning a humidifier for baby nurseries. Here’s a list of some common complaints and how you can overcome them.
Having to refill the water tank, sometimes on a daily basis- If you’re worried about always having to refill the water tank, choose a humidifier with a larger tank capacity. You won’t need to refill the water tank as often if it’s a larger size.
White residue left on furniture- Often, people will complain that the humidifier has caused white dust to be found on countertops and furniture. To overcome this problem, use filtered or distilled water in your humidifier. Filtered water doesn’t contain as many contaminants and sediments which is what the white powder is.
Damp floor or carpet caused by the humidifier- You might notice some dampness on the spot where your humidifier is placed. To overcome this, make sure you place the humidifier on a surface where it can be wiped up easily. Don’t place your humidifier on carpet or other delicate surface.
Why I Recommend Buying The Best Humidifier For Baby Nurseries
Parents spend lots of time researching and shopping for a new baby crib and other furniture for the nursery, but it’s also important to research and shop for products that will help your baby’s health.
Not only do humidifiers help with easing coughs and congestion, they also help prevent dry skin. A baby’s skin can be very sensitive to its environment. Babies are exposed to the harshness of the climate, dust, bacteria and mold.
By using a humidifier, you can help reduce the likelihood that your baby will suffer from dry skin.
Dry skin can cause severe discomfort and pain for babies. Read more information about dry air health problems.
Humidifiers can help prevent the onset of dry skin and its associated problems. Humidifiers add moisture to the air and can be used all year round. Dry air not only occurs in winter time but also in climates that are hot and dry in the summertime.
